On the first
of Shaaban, coinciding this year
with October 7th 2002, Makassed
Association celebrated the
launching of its 125th Anniversary
festivities. These serve to involve
Makassed friends in the
celebrations to ensure the
continuation of their support of
its Mission, as written by the
Founding Fathers.
Makassed has
launched a fundraising campaign, which will
give Makassed Friends the opportunity to
support their Mother Association. This is
the management's project aimed to secure
financial sustainability of the Association
and secure continuity in the future for
Makassed.
Makassed is
opening up today, calling all its friends
around the world to support it in
fulfilling its mission that reaches more
than 50 thousand Lebanese families who
benefit from its educational, social and
healthcare services.
To cover the annual educational subsidy we have
created the "Makassed Educational Unit" (MEU)
Pledge Program. Each MEU is worth $380 and it
covers the educational operating subsidy per student
per year. A total of 14,000 units per year is
required. Friends of Makassed around the World
are invited to pledge their donations to this
noble cause.
These pledged donations are expected to cover
a substantial part of the operational subsidy
of the educational sector. Pledged Donations will
be mentioned in the Honour List of donors to the
Makassed.
The Association needs to
have an alternate endowment alongside
its large Real Estate endowment to
assure its continual subsidized work within
Lebanon.
A 5-year Fundraising plan that aims at
creating The Makassed Endowment Fund
of 100 millions US Dollars, the
revenue of which shall be used to
cover the operating subsidy of the
Association and to provide
scholarships to needy students.
The plan for raising funds from
different sources is outlined as
follows:

Donations made by Benevolent Governments, Rulers and Princes
$M 15 : Donations made by Makassed Friends
in Lebanon and the Arab Countries

Charity Association (MFA)
The new Fundraising campaign calls for
the participation of Makassed friends
at Home and around the World. The
target is to raise $3M each year for the Makassed Endowment Fund from
friends in the these countries.
