In 2008 the Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association will have completed its 130 years of service commitment to its general community in Lebanon, a legendary history which was full of serious challenges, but has being glowing ever since with significant achievements.
It all started by the first founders who have set the mission then, and which remained persistent and unaffected through all the times that Makassed has run through. That mission aims at developing the human beings, maintaining their welfare and building a nation of knowledge.
The facts of which Makassed is currently operating 10 established schools in Beirut and 38 others scattered all over Lebanon reaching out to the remotest urban towns in the country, and the continuous services provided by one of the busiest general and academic hospitals in Lebanon, simply prove that the mission which was called then as the “True Dawn” is still being carried out in the good hands since 1878.
The New Pursuit for the Sincere Mission
By advancing Makassed’s mission towards new frontiers of commitment, and in order to fulfill the current needs of its community, a new member of the Makassed family was born in the year 2000; it’s the Makassed University of Beirut.
