The Holy month of Ramadan started this year during challenging circumstances of unprecedented deterioration of the wellbeing of Lebanese citizens. The COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a worsening economic situation coupled with the Beirut Port explosion, are having a devastating impact on vulnerable families who are in greater need of crucial support.
Each year, Makassed is committed to fulfill its humanitarian aid during these blessed days towards disadvantaged families by collecting financial and in-kind donations in order to distribute food parcels, support students with their teaching fees and finance patients’ treatments.
Our Zakat campaign was launched under the slogan “Give your zakat in the month of goodness” in an awareness bid for initiative to reach out to fasting Muslims.
This campaign focuses on three key themes:
- Educate children unable to pay tuition fees
- Treat needy patients
- Fight hunger
Makassed therefore offers its support, whether by covering the tuition fees of Makassed students, treating patients at MGH especially those in the Cancer and Hematology Center and the COVID-19 Unit, or by distributing iftar meals to poor families.

All of us at Makassed extend our most sincere wishes and prayers to the Lebanese people on this auspicious occasion; hoping that security and peace will prevail in our dear Lebanon.
