Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association of Beirut and the Lebanese American University (LAU) signed a landmark agreement to expand their longstanding partnership, reinforcing their shared mission of academic excellence and community impact, on July 24, 2025. The collaboration will focus on four main pillars, including providing tuition discounts for outstanding Makassed graduates, teachers, and staff; engaging students through joint outreach, academic, and cultural activities; offering practicum and internship opportunities for LAU Education and Psychology students at Makassed schools; and delivering professional development workshops, research collaborations, and innovative teaching strategies. Additional training programs will be offered through the LAU School of Arts and Sciences and the LAU Academy for Continuing Education. LAU will also establish the Makassed Friends Fund and direct designated donations toward financial aid for Makassed alumni. The signing ceremony, held at LAU’s Beirut campus, was attended by LAU President Dr. Chaouki T. Abdallah, Makassed President Dr. Faisal Sinno, trustees, board members, and academic leaders from both institutions, who emphasized the shared values and vision driving this strengthened alliance and its promise to open new horizons for future generations.
