Horj Primary Healthcare Center
- Accreditation Mock Visit
On April 8, 2025, Horj PHC underwent a comprehensive accreditation mock visit to align with the updated ISQUA standards issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in 2023. This review evaluated services, policies, and documentation to ensure compliance with national quality benchmarks.
- Smoking Prevention Program
Launched in February 2025 in collaboration with the MoPH, this program educates patients on the risks of tobacco use and supports those who wish to quit. PHC nurses conduct assessments and awareness sessions, while motivated patients are referred to a general medicine physician for tobacco alternatives, such as nicotine gum.
- REAYA Project
Initiated in September 2024 and running until March 2026, this MoPH project aims to improve access to essential health services for vulnerable Lebanese populations identified through the Emergency Social Safety Network (ESSN). Services include immunizations, essential consultations, chronic and acute condition screening, health education, and referrals for lab and X-ray services. To date, 1,110 beneficiaries are enrolled, with approximately 40% having completed their service packages.
- World Hepatitis Day Activities
On July 28, 2025, in partnership with Skoun, Horj PHC hosted awareness sessions and provided free rapid tests for hepatitis B and C, HIV, and syphilis, benefiting 40 individuals.
Bachoura Primary Healthcare Center
- Accreditation Mock Visit
On May 26, 2025, Bachoura PHC participated in a detailed accreditation mock visit as part of preparations for compliance with the updated ISQUA standards from the MoPH.
- World Hepatitis Day Activities
On July 29, 2025, in partnership with Skoun, Bachoura PHC conducted awareness sessions and free rapid testing for hepatitis B and C, HIV, and syphilis, reaching 20 beneficiaries.
- Mental Health Awareness for Staff
In May 2025, psychotherapist Mrs. Sara Barbarji delivered interactive mental health sessions on workplace violence prevention and management. These sessions addressed different types of violence, shared real staff experiences, and provided strategies for appropriate intervention.
Msaytbeh Primary Healthcare Center
- Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Initiative
Since June 30, 2024, the American University of Beirut (AUB), in partnership with the World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) and MoPH, has been implementing an initiative at Msaytbeh PHC to reduce the burden of NCDs. The focus is on early detection of hypertension and diabetes through screening and diagnostic testing. The project runs until November 30, 2025, with 200 beneficiaries recruited so far.
- Medecins du Monde Project
Launched on July 1, 2025, and running until September 30, 2025, this project provides 600 beneficiaries per month with medical consultations, lab tests, and X-ray services. Additionally, 20 monthly mental health awareness sessions are delivered by the PHC’s social worker.
Wadi Khaled Primary Healthcare Center (Akkar)
- IMC Comprehensive Health Project
Supported by the International Medical Corps (IMC) until September 30, 2025, this project provides a wide range of medical consultations, including pediatrics, OBGYN, cardiology, orthopedics, endocrinology, general medicine, midwifery care, and mental health support. Beneficiaries also have access to diagnostic services, mammography, breast ultrasounds, follow-up care, and home visits.
- Operational Capacity Building
Wadi Khaled PHC’s manager, along with Makassed Healthcare Bureau’s project coordinator and finance officer, attended capacity-building workshops organized by IMC, PUI, and Active Voice in Beirut and Tripoli. The training covered procurement, logistics, HR, financial management, and proposal writing, introducing improved templates for future projects.
- Transportation Support for Malnutrition Cases
In partnership with IOCC, Wadi Khaled PHC provides transportation assistance for families with malnourished children or pregnant women.
- Community-Based Rehabilitation
In collaboration with Al-Rahma Medical Complex, the center offers free assistive devices and physical therapy sessions to individuals with special needs. This agreement, valid until December 31, 2025, aims to enhance beneficiaries’ quality of life and functional independence.
