Ward El Makassed Center
Ward El Makassed Center was established in 2014 in the underserved neighborhood of Tariq El Jdideh in Beirut, as part of the social development arm of the Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association of Beirut. The Center was created in response to the growing socio-economic challenges faced by women and youth, providing practical vocational training, skills development, and income-generating opportunities. Today, Ward El Makassed Center serves Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian communities and operates as a hub for empowerment, productivity, and social inclusion.
Makassed Islamic Scouts Association
Founded in 1981, the Makassed Islamic Scouts Association is a non-political, volunteer-based youth movement open to all, operating in alignment with the principles of the World Organization of the Scout Movement and Makassed’s educational values. With commissions in Beirut, the Beqaa, and Akkar, the Association runs scouting activities across Makassed schools and offers specialized programs in music, development, and community service. Its three age-based circles—Cubs and Flowers, Scouts and Guides, and Rovers—provide young members with educational and developmental experiences that build leadership, teamwork, and a strong sense of community responsibility.
Makassed Volunteers Unit
The Makassed Volunteers Unit was established in 2001 with the support of the Makassed Islamic Philanthropic Association in Beirut, in line with the International Year of Volunteering. It aims to empower youth, promote leadership, and encourage active community engagement. The Unit oversees six clubs across Makassed colleges and a central club, and organizes activities such as support for the elderly, orphans, and persons with special needs, Ramadan meal distribution, clothing donation campaigns, and leadership training programs. The Unit currently engages 150–200 volunteers, with capacity for growth.
