Empowering Women in Beirut Through Income Generation Opportunities

With funding from Norway and in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Al Makassed Ward Center launched the Sawa3ed Platform to create sustainable job opportunities for women of Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian nationalities. The initiative aimed to enhance women’s economic participation in domestic services, childcare, and food preparation.

Over the 10-month project duration, 80 women underwent a three-month intensive training program, which included first aid and safety protocols. Led by expert trainers, the program equipped participants with practical skills for employment, significantly improving their economic prospects and living conditions.

Despite challenges such as currency fluctuations and difficulties in reaching participants, the project achieved a 100% completion rate. Key improvements in resource allocation and communication ensured efficient implementation and impactful results.

This initiative not only empowered beneficiaries but also reinforced Al Makassed’s role in charitable and social work, strengthening its reputation and enhancing partnerships.

Special thanks to Madam Shiraz Mughli, Madam Nans Helal, Mr. Mohammad Debebo, and Madam Nada Kreidi for their invaluable contributions to this successful endeavor.
